Parking Sign

I've always liked how a quick filter on the right picture can throw the entire scene back 50 years.

The Tunnel of Coke

Just a view through some Coke bottles at the local grocery store. It's all in how you look at things.

100 Years of Taliesin

What better way to celebrate the 100th post on this blog than by picking a 100th anniversary of something? And what better 100th anniversary than that of the great American architect Frank Lloyd Wright's Taliesin in Wisconsin?

It was Frank Lloyd Wright who gave us the distinctive Prairie Style architecture and some of the most recognizable pieces of historical architecture. Places such as FallingwaterThe Robie House, The Avery Coonley Estate, and many more. Wright's designs are such that they are universally recognized, even if you are unaware that you're looking at a Wright piece, you know that it belongs to a very specific school of design.

Taliesin was Frank Lloyd Wright's summer home near Spring Green, Wisconsin.

Tiny Window

A tiny little window to look in upon your soul.

Or maybe just a roof drain spout...

Fish Eye Lens

I've been playing around with the HTC HD7 and it's been interesting to compare it to my prior mobile phone experiences. There's some parts of Windows Phone 7 that are really slick, but there's some parts that just drive me up the wall too (No customizable ringtones? Really?) Overall though it's not a bad phone. Heck, even the camera is good.

One thing that I was pleased to see was that there were some decent photo apps available for free (and were promoted no less...) One of them being FishEYE Camera. It's a quick little app which takes any image you want and modifies it to appear as though it was taken with a Fish Eye Lens.

Movie Barcodes

When I first chose the name for this blog all I thought about was what I was doing when I took a picture, which was mainly taking a three dimensional world and compressing it down to two dimensions. Add in a little bit of design items and elements which make me stop and think "Wow!" and you've got what is here today.

Which catching up on my reading on one of my latest favorites, The Fox Is Black, I came across his post on moviebarcode, which takes my initial thoughts and goes one step farther. Movies are already two-dimensional in image, but are three dimensional when you add in time. Take that dimension and compress it down again and you get movie bar codes, which shows all the frames of a movie compressed into one image.

Circular Logic

We've branded our jackets with the name "Excelled". The reasoning? It sells because it excels. So now the question is, which came first? The brand or the tagline? Either way, at least they can say it was made in the USA.

Goth Angel

This little angel seems to have fallen in love with Ozzy Osbourne and Marilyn Manson. Who said that Goth's don't need a little love and faith too?

St. Peter's Episcopal Church

St. Peter's Episcopal Church in Morristown, New Jersey and some of it's surrounding graves. The snow and cold (about -10C / 14F) made this peaceful area even more removed from the surrounding city giving it an almost surreal effect. It was certainly a time of reflection.

Flyovers

There is still some beauty to be found in the construction of highway overpasses and flyovers. That is, if you like architecture, construction, and works in progress...

Right This Way

What better way to drive attention and foot traffic to your antique store than by using an antique sign?
